7月30日 Women Writers J.K.Rowling finally finished up her magic series.I am not a big fan of Harry Porter, but I am so glad to see that the most famous and richest writer on this planet is a woman. I don't like her way to let her characters have so many twisted fates, and ridiculously good luck. But so many people just buy into her imagination.Poor people, we are living in a world without fantasy! Rowling is so lucky in many perspectives comparing to her predecessors.Think about George Eliot(Mary Ann Evans), she could not get her novel published unless she used a guy's name. Jane Austen had the same problem. They both had to face a lot of distrust and contempt to write for the public.A lot of people have particular interest in women writers, including me.But I am not sure if I like them best, especially the novels mainly composed of gossips. That's one of the worst thing about women writers. Even some modern writers, like Virginia Woolf, seems to put much attention to some trivial and annoying details. That's the reason why her reputation could not catch James Joyce. Like she said in Common Readers, a good writer should be androgynous. So Shakespeare and his sister could have the same talent and fame. Unfortunately, women writer could not view the world with the androgynous view. They will sooner or later find that their attempt to reverse what is predestined for them would fail some day. They have to follow their own sensation more and at last give in their fickle characters. I want to mention Mary Shelley specifically, since her writing really gives me the impression that it is not feminine at all. But some Romantic poets, like William Wordsworth, their writing is not that masculine either. So the discussion about how the gender would decide the text is not that convincing to me. I would rather to neglect what they are when I am reading. I rarely thinks about the writer's gender until recently. Because I have not been motivated to write anything for a long time. I want this admirable women writers to give me some answer, so that I would not easily give up when I find myself so bored with the dry writing I have to face everyday! 引用通告此日志的引用通告 URL 是: http://lianglianglv.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!1FF22863B31C9DEC!557.trak 引用此项的网络日志
